Aetius of Syria

Aetius (b.? flourished 300c, d. c.366, Constantinople) Aetius founded the Syrian sect of the "Aryian" group in Syria. Arianism was the heretical concept that only god can have godhood. Arius (c.250-366, mainly in Constantinople) maintained that Jesus must have been born, and therefore could *not* be divine like god. Thus, maintaining that only god could be god-like. Aetius's training was in the strict logic of Aristotle>. Of Aetius' purported 300 sylogisms (logical statements), only some 47 survived to the present. For his teachings, he was banished several times, dieing in Constantinople.
